25 years Orthopedic / Sports Medicine Rehabilitation (SPTA)
21 years treating Orthopedic/ Neuro-musculoskeletal conditions. US Army Reserves, Medical Specialist Corp, Physical Therapist.

Activated February 2004 - April 2005. US Army Hospital, Wurzburg , Germany . In-patient and out-patient care of active duty military personnel in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Special Clinical Interests:

Matt has a specific clinical interest in the patho/mechanics and rehabilitation of shoulder and knee injuries. He has attended numerous seminars and continuing education focusing on the most advanced treatment techniques for safe and effective rehabilitation. Matt stresses patient education with all of his patients and believes their full understanding of the process of injury and rehabilitation is essential for a productive and positive outcome.

Tony Dematteo

Developed a comprehensive private practice with a special interest in orthopedics, sports medicine and industrial rehabilitation.
Developed and implemented rehabilitation programs for injured athletes in professional, collegiate division I, II, and III, high school, adolescence and youth populations.
Developed a local referral base of more than 100 physicians.
Expanded clinic to include Nautilus weight training, athletic enhancement and wellness programs.
Founding member of Athleticare, LLC.
Developed protocols used for sports muscular-skeletal screening.
Developed program to provide certified athletic trainers to Saratoga Springs High School .

Melissa has worked in several outpatient orthopedic clinics in Virginia and upstate New York before returning home to the Saratoga area. She has experience working with patients of all ages and activity levels but especially enjoys treating the young athlete. Melissa has also attended many continuing education courses to further her knowledge in manual therapy of various joints and recently has focused on rehabilitating dancers of all skill levels. She places emphasis on returning patients to their prior level of function and encourages well-being through an active lifestyle.

Clinical Experience:

Julia has over 10 years of clinical experience working in the outpatient orthopedic setting with patients of all ages and skill levels. She has gained strong knowledge in treating post-surgical patients, including complicated cases. She enjoys using her additional knowledge in strength and conditioning to treat athletes of all ages and help patients adapt their independent strength and conditioning programs created in the physical therapy gym to their individual gyms. Julia has attended continuing education courses ranging from manual therapy techniques to rehabilitation of the athlete to the latest trends in surgical care. Her objective is to educate each patient with a complete understanding of his or her injury and/or diagnosis. Julia likes to work with her patients to create comfortable, effective, and individualized treatment programs and home exercise programs with the goal of returning all patients to their highest level of function.

Matt has been with Saratoga Physical Therapy Associates since the September, 2000. He has over 10 years of clinical experience working with orthopedic post-operative patients and focuses on sports rehab / therapy. He has extensive continuing education training in sports rehabilitation and functional training. Matt stresses a focus on the development of functional therapeutic home exercise programs that promote recovery and prevention of injuries. Matt understands the importance of exercise and fitness and encourages his patients to adopt a healthy, active lifestyle.

Gary has nearly 20 years of clinical and on field experience dealing with sport related orthopedic injuries. His interest in injury prevention at the high school level through exercise relates with the physical therapy setting well. New this year is work with a concussion program that helps evaluate athletes (Impact Program).

Kim has worked in the field of fitness, personal/athletic training for over 25 years. Kim's recent acquisition of her AAS as a Physical Therapist Assistant is a result of her recognizing the importance of injury prevention and rehabilitation in the aging athletic body. Kim has a strong interest in returning a patient to a high level of functional performance. Kim has strength trained and conditioned athletes young and old. She has also, developed programs for all ages, focusing on general wellness and exercise with strong elements pertaining to proper body mechanics, muscular balance and injury prevention. She has treated patients with orthopedic, cardiac, respiratory, cancer and neuromuscular pathologies. She has attended numerous seminars and conferences and will continue to further her rehabilitative education to benefit the patients of Saratoga Physical Therapy Associates.
